elaborate

i. (verb) to add more information or explain something that you have said

Sentence– The teacher told the student to elaborate on his reason for breaking the school rules, so that she could get a clear picture of what was going on in his mind.

ii. (adjective) Containing a lot of connected parts or many complicated details.

Sentence– The team of software engineers created an elaborate software to run the super computer.

    I’ve heard this word many times from our teachers as they tell us to write long and more detailed ( elaborate) answers in our test paper. I remember ma’am Lata asking me to elaborate my answer in my book discussion.

  8. Dear Ma’am Tarana
    I notice that after some questions the word elaborate is written. This is because the teacher wants us to write long answers for a 2-4 marker question. According to me, the antonym to elaborate is short or simple.
