Just today I was telling the new students of my club -the Literary Club- about different genres of writing when one of my previous students said the two broad categories of writing are – fiction and non- fiction.
He was quite right. The above chart says it all. It explains quite well what both categories mean. So a story written using your own imagination with no historical or factual accuracy would be fiction, whereas a debate, non- fiction.
Think about the book you are reading at the moment. Is it fictional or non-fictional?
Can you also think of other genres of writing that fit under each category? Like poetry would fit under fictional.

Ma’am I have read many books, some are fictional and some are non-fictonal. Books that I have recently read are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Kalam Effect, The Wind in the Haunted Hill and The History of the Magistic Tigers. And now I can divide them into categories as The Kalam Effect and The History of the Magistic Tigers are non-fictonal whereas Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Wind in the Haunted Hill are fictional.
Thank You Ma’am
