The blog on July 3rd featured the word “exotic”. I received a lot of brilliant sentences on the word. (Click here in case you want to read that post again.)
However, there was one comment that stood out for me. Here are the reasons why:
1. Due to the effort put in by the person. He/she framed not just a sentence but a little story.
2. There story was full of details. Details make the story more interesting as the reader is able to visualize more. Remember we have discussed it in class?
Therefore, I thought why don’t I share the comment with you. Here it goes:
Years ago we used to drive through the Rosemont neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. We would sometimes see a woman in her twenties (I am guessing from somewhere in the Caribbean) babysitting a toddler. She was always dressed in very colorful clothing and dramatic jewelry. We called her the Exotic Babysitter because she was definitely a bird of paradise in a neighborhood of brick houses with big trees and green lawns.
Notice the use of adjectives as well as the sentence structure in the story.
And the blogger who posted it was:

I know some of you have been framing stories using your vocabulary even in the class. You can compose short stories around the Word of the Day and post it for all your friends to read. Use the words that you learn while reading to compose hour story.
I get to read such amazing work in school. Every now and then, we’ll feature the best story and it’s writer on the blog, just like we did for Word of the Day.
Excited for the next word?
Let’s see who writes the best story.
Love and light!
Keep learning! Keep growing!
Thank you mam for the lovely word.
